The name "Black Lily Designz" was inspired by my very beautiful, unique, smart and animated niece, Ms. LilyAnn. She is a character! She is the youngest of my nieces and nephews and is very colorful and captivating, just like my artwork (so I've been told.) Throughout this website, there will be art collections and pieces that are named after my children, my nieces and nephews and other family members who have inspired me to draw and paint.
As long as I can remember, I have dibbled and dabbled with art. I have always been fascinated by the many beautiful creative forms of artwork and I love to visit art museums. Abstract and unique types of art are my favorite. In grade school and high school, I got through my boring classes by doodling all over my papers. In high school, I took as many art classes as I could....and I LOVED THEM! I've tried my hand at drawing, sewing, jewelry making and now painting.
Currently, I am a high school special education teacher in the city of Richmond, Ca. I have been teaching for a total of 9 years. During My first year as a teacher, I taught high school students with learning disabilities. My second and third years I taught middle school children with learning disabilities. My fourth year, I changed it up a bit and decided to try my hand with high school students who have emotional disturbance. Needless to say, I am still teaching this population of students and I love it. Although challenging, I would not trade my job for the world. Everyday brings something new and most of the time exciting, just like I hope that my website will for my followers.
I hope you all will enjoy!
Kwaherini (goodbye) for now!
